Trouble-Shooting tucan series

tucan is a powerful visualization software that makes demands depending on the size of model at the hardware equipment. More and detailed information is available in the online help of tucan view or within the following documents:

Please execute checks or system changes only then if you have sufficient knowledge to operate these tasks. If necessary please backup all data and settings before to be able to restore the system.

The following information are for the applications:

  • tucan design SL (license file for MAC-Address)
  • tucan design (license file for dongle)
  • tucan view+ (license file for dongle)

Installing not possible

Please ensure that there is enough disk space and that you have all access rights to copy and to generate file links (MIME). If necessary please use the administrator login.

tucan view starts, but cancels the startup with a message

Please ensure that enough memory and graphic memory is available. The program needs graphic cards with OpenGL support (revision 1.2 and later). Please check if you could enable manually the OpenGL mode. Perhaps a graphic card driver supporting OpenGL is available, but not installed at your system. Take care not to install another device driver if the operating ability of your system would be at risk or not to be able to restore the system.

tucan starts and messages "No valid license found."

Only the info dialog is displayed.

Impossible to load a file

Please check if the file was stored for tucan design or tucan view+.

tucan design: only files with the extension .ASN, .ASA or .RXS (REALAX series) can be loaded.

tucan view+: only files with the extension .AVW, .AVZ or .ARC can be loaded.

Possibly the revision of the file is newer than the used revision of tucan view. If necessary please install the current version of tucan view.

Depending on the file size enough free memory must be available (e.g. use of Windows Task Manager to check). If necessary please close other tasks before you try to load the file.

Impossible to load a non-commercial file

Non-commercial versions of tucan (Educational Version, Student Version, Demo Version) create files with specific data format. It is impossible to load these data with a commercial version and to store them as commercial file afterwards. Instead of this within a dialog the question appears if tucan should start again or should start a new separate task with a corresponding license type and the automatically loading of that file. After editing and storing that file will be stored with the license type, which was valid for the task.

Besides tucan can be executed in a dedicated license type. More information is available within the online help of tucan and the search string "license type".

Please note that some special module licenses like tucan export or tucan multichannel may not be available starting tucan with non-commercial license type.

A file was loaded but displayed incorrectly

Using the file types .ASN, .ASA, .AVW and .AVZ possibly not all textures and external resources like HTM-Pages or animation files .AVA were loaded from the expected location. If you did not generate the file yourself it is necessary to locate these files in the same directory as the model file or within the subdirectories "icons", "resources" and "textures" during exporting the model.

If the model is displayed with artificial effects, possibly it comes from an incorrect graphic card driver or to less graphic memory. Please test the file with another computer if possible.

tucan view or a file is loaded very slowly from CD

Please install tucan view and copy all files to your hard disk and try again.

A file is loaded and displayed very slowly

Please check if your system has enough power to handle model quite big and complex. Depending on the model your computer needs enough memory and performance of the processor and the graphic card.
